President - Arafat Ayub (‘19)

Arafat Ayub is a NUI graduate from the class of 2019. He graduated from the Rutgers Business School in 2023 and double majored in Finance and Supply Chain Management with a concentration in Global Business. Arafat is currently working at Capital One as an Investment Banker and worked at PGIM which is Prudential’s investment arm in Private Equity Real Estate prior to his current role. At Rutgers, he was on the executive board of the MSA, the Vice President of the Muslim Public Relations Council, a member of Little Investment Bankers of Rutgers, a member of the Rutgers University Student Assembly, and in a professional business fraternity. This past year Arafat was serving on the board of the NUI Alumni Association as the President and prior to that as the vice president and the Chair of the Student Relations Committee. In his free time, Arafat enjoys reading about various successful businesses and their paths to get to where they are today. He is also very passionate about different types of exotic cars and basketball. Arafat is a lifelong Lebron James fan and a bubble tea aficionado!

 

Vice President: Noor Yousry (‘19) 

Since graduating from Noor-ul-Iman School in 2019, Nour Yousry has been a proud alumna and an active community member in the Noor-Ul-Iman community, After graduating high school, Nour pursued her undergraduate studies at Muhlenberg College, where she earned a Bachelors of Arts (B.A.) in public health and a minor in anthropology with high honors. Nour is furthering her studies in public health and is currently a Masters of Public Health (MPH) student at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health specializing in Health Policy & Management. Nour is passionate about public health work within the intersections of medical delivery and healthcare management. Serving as an emergency medical technician (EMT) for years, Nour seeks to leverage her experiences within pre-hospital care and her drive for more empowered communities to lead within healthcare. Having an interest in healthcare consulting work, Nour hopes to make meaningful impacts within public health through innovative, strategic, and creative solutions. She is driven by a commitment of improving our health systems and empowering our communities. Nour is very excited to be serving as the Vice President of the Noor-Ul-Iman Alumni Association (NUIAA) this term, looking forward to fostering meaningful networks that uplift Noor-Ul-Iman students. Together inshaAllah and with Allah's swt guidance, let's be "the light for future generations" and inspire beautiful change.

Treasurer: Zaid Syed (‘10)

Zaid Syed’s involvement with the Alumni Association began with the establishment of the organization and drafting the bylaws. Currently, he serves as Treasurer. His goals during his term include establishing NUIAA as a non-profit organization, opening an official bank account, setting up ways to receive tax-deductible donations, and working towards becoming financially self-sufficient, Insha’Allah.

Secretary: Tariq Fahumy ('23)

I graduated from Noor-Ul-Iman in 2023, and I am now studying computer engineering at Rutgers. I genuinely enjoy helping the community to the best of my ability, and I look forward to improving the current status of the alumni association. I love talking to people, anywhere, anytime, about anything, so feel free to reach out to me.

 

Communications: Daniyal Chaudhry (‘22)

Daniyal, who is currently a Junior at Rutgers University (School of Arts and Sciences), graduated from NUI in 2022. He is on the pre-med track, majoring in Biomathematics. He enjoys gaining knowledge in a variety of fields— the sciences, the humanities, and beyond— and loves to relay that knowledge to others. He is also an avid video-gamer, and you'll often find him playing platformers and JRPGs, discovering novel strategies and breaking world records. As a part of the NUI Alumni Association board, he hopes to reinvigorate a strong sense of community between NUI's current students and the whole of the alumni body. 


 

Professional Development: Mohamed Asker (‘14)

Mohamed is a proud graduate of Noor Ul Iman (Class of 2014), where he developed a deep connection to his faith and a strong commitment to serving his community. Guided by Islamic values of integrity and justice, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Rutgers University and his Doctor of Law degree from Villanova University, combining technical expertise with a dedication to advocacy and fairness.

Now as a litigation associate at Fox Rothschild LLP, Mohamed focuses on resolving complex commercial, insurance, and construction disputes.

Beyond his professional career, Mohamed actively serves his community as a volunteer with MAUN Federal Credit Union, the nation’s first Islamic credit union offering interest-free loans. He also brings his leadership to various initiatives, including serving as a member of the Law School Admission Council’s Student Advisory Board, where he worked to make education more accessible and equitable for students of all backgrounds.


Social: Zuhayr Thange ('22)

I'm a NUI graduate from the Class of 2022. I'm currently a junior at Rutgers University majoring in Cognitive Science and am planning to do research within the field, especially relating to AI. I am a representative in the Rutgers University Student Assembly, the university's student government, and am planning on becoming an executive board member in it. I look forward to helping the alumni strengthen their connections within NUI.

 

Student Relations: Umer Shah ('19)

I graduated from Noor-ul-Iman School in 2019 and from The College of New Jersey in 2023 with my undergraduate degree. Now, I’m excited to be in my first year of medical school. Outside of my studies, I enjoy learning about modern supercars and love playing just about any sport. It’s an honor to give back and serve the Noor-ul-Iman community that has played such an important role in my journey.
